Job Description Data Centre Platform Engineer As a Platform Engineer, you will be working within the Data Centre Platforms team to provide BAU and project support for a majority Microsoft stack in a highly available environment, including implementation, production support, project implementation support, performance monitoring and tuning, configuration management, upgrades, patching, data migration and automation. You will based in our Leighton Buzzard office, with some flexibility to work from home. This role will require national travel occasionally as well as an On-call shift and out of hours work, as required. Responsibilities include: Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure components, including servers, networks, and storage systems. Support internal team projects and initiatives including continuous improvements to current infrastructure solutions and implementation of new technologies. Diagnose and resolve technical issues to ensure system availability, reliability, and optimal performance. Apply security best practices to protect sensitive data and safeguard systems against threats. Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation and reports related to infrastructure operations. Manage incident tickets and problem resolution processes with a detailed and structured approach. Assist in infrastructure capacity planning, resource allocation, and execution of change implementations. Support the development, testing, and deployment of automation solutions and scripting to streamline operations. Identify opportunities for automation and drive initiatives to improve efficiency. Technical skills required: Strong knowledge of managing servers, networks, and storage systems, including experience with high-availability environments. Expertise in the Microsoft stack, such as Windows Server, Hyper-V, Active Directory, O365 and other relevant Microsoft tools. Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, ensuring system performance and uptime. Understanding of IT security principles, including implementation of security measures to protect data and systems. Ability to monitor infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies. Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell). Experience with configuration management, upgrades, and patching to maintain system integrity. Hands-on experience in managing, configuring, and optimizing Azure cloud platforms and services.
