HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, on site.

We have a great opportunity for a Head of Engineering in the Retirement Platform which operates within the Insurance, Pensions and Investment Division.

The Retirement Platform exists to help customers live their retirement to the full. If we get this right, each year we'll help tens of thousands of retirees navigate the complex financial choices they need to make.
Collaboration is critical to the success of this role! As the Head of Engineering for Retirements you'll work collaboratively with the Product Owners, other platforms, technical teams, as well as other engineering leads across the group. You'll work hand-in-hand leading the platform technology teams with the Technology Platform Lead and Business Platform Lead and Product Owners to:
1. Jointly assume the ownership, development, and accountability of Lab strategic and quarterly OKRs, and are incentivised against a balanced set of business and technology outcomes.
2. Optimise, evolve, and deliver an efficient operating model.
3. Support shaping of the backlog and prioritising outcomes, which are essential to keep the solution/product in good health.
4. Create an organisation that is truly data driven and providing the best value propositions to our customers.
5. Define the What and Why the team deliver, and how through a combination of engineering solutions and changes to our ways of working ie agile and instrumentation.

What you'll need:
1. To be a visionary leader and an advocate for digital transformation.
2. A passion for team development; allowing colleagues to develop in different/new technologies and mature in ways of working, resulting in a successful team.
3. Extensive experience and technical engineering knowledge and implementation of a broad range of platforms, including cloud.
4. Are technology agnostic and willing to adapt your approach in pursuit of the best solution; enables via an excellent knowledge and understanding of multiple engineering & software design solutions.
5. Experienced in providing Software Engineering oversight, technical and people leadership across multiple teams.
6. Successful in building high performing mission driven cultures.
7. You will inspire delivery whilst encouraging simplicity and developing confidence & trust.
