The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is the world’s leading international think tank providing independent and objective information and analysis on military, geopolitical, and geo-economic developments that could lead to conflict.
The Institute is seeking to appoint an Assistant Research Manager to work as part of the Director-General’s team in the Executive Office of the IISS located in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Director-General in a small, collaborative team on a wide variety of tasks. The job holder will gain a broad understanding of the Institute’s priorities and will work across our international offices.
Responsibilities:
* Provide extensive support to the IISS Research Board, including collation and distribution of Board papers, taking comprehensive minutes, tracking Research Board activities, and coordinating research proposal submissions and actions with operational and research teams.
* Coordinate across directorates and research programmes on behalf of the Director-General.
* Track research proposals, submissions, and associated funding status on CRM.
* Support the Managing Director, Executive Office as required, including providing administrative and Dialogue support, and maintaining CRM records.
* Manage IISS Advisory Council Meetings, including event logistics, speaker liaison, budget management, and acting as a point of contact for Board members.
Requirements:
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
* Demonstrable experience working in a similar role.
* Excellent Excel skills would be beneficial.
* Ability to work with initiative and organize own workload to meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
* Demonstrable interest in international relations preferred.
