A large and highly reputable Roman Catholic secondary school in Norwich is seeking an outstanding and dedicated Head of Religious Education to join its permanent staff. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced educator to lead a thriving RE department and contribute to the spiritual and academic development of students.
The Role
The Head of RE will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the Religious Education department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
Developing and implementing an engaging and challenging curriculum in line with Catholic teachings and national guidelines.
Supporting the spiritual development of students and staff by fostering a strong Catholic ethos within the school.
Leading and coordinating liturgical events, retreats, and acts of worship.
Working collaboratively with senior leadership and other departments to promote the school’s values and mission.
Monitoring and assessing student progress, ensuring that all learners achieve their full potential.
Providing leadership, support, and professional development opportunities for RE teachers.
Person Specification
The successful candidate must:
Be a practising Catholic with a strong commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and possess a relevant degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field.
Have proven experience teaching Religious Education at secondary level, with a track record of excellent student outcomes.
Demonstrate leadership experience or the potential to lead, with strong communication and organisational skills.
Be passionate about faith education and committed to developing the Catholic life of the school.
Have experience in curriculum development and the ability to inspire both students and staff.
