About Us
Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team in a post-16 setting. Our goal is to empower young adults by providing individualised academic support, helping them achieve GCSE-level qualifications and equipping them with the skills they need to transition into adulthood confidently.
Role Overview
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with young adults on a 1:1 basis, supporting them in core GCSE subjects. This role requires patience, creativity, and a genuine desire to help each student reach their potential and develop essential skills for adult life. You’ll be instrumental in creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment tailored to individual needs.
Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 support in core GCSE subjects, adapting materials and methods to suit each learner’s pace and style.
* Assist in developing personal skills that promote independence and life readiness, such as problem-solving and effective communication.
* Help to implement and track personalised learning plans to ensure steady academic progress.
* Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment, building strong relationships with students to support their academic and personal growth.
* Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure cohesive support for each learner.
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a motivated and empathetic professional who is passionate about education and supporting young adults. The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience in a learning support role, particularly with students aged 16+.
* Knowledge of the GCSE curriculum and confidence in assisting with core subjects.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire learners.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young adults.
* Flexibility, patience, and a proactive approach to adapt to each student’s unique needs.
Requirements
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply).
* Previous experience in a similar role or relevant qualification in Education, Support Work, or related fields.
* A passion for supporting young adults in an educational setting.
