Responsible to: Principal Investigator

(Fixed-Term until 30th November 2027 / Full-Time)
Job Purpose:
Ulster University is working with fourteen institutions in three jurisdictions on the large-scale Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water project. The project is jointly funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development in Northern Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland, and UK Research and Innovation.
We require a post-doctoral environmental scientist to develop research and knowledge exchange on terrestrial carbon dynamics in upland peat catchments as part of a Monitoring and Modelling Platform in the Co-Centre. Both fluvial and gaseous carbon fluxes are measured at multiple sites with state-of-the art equipment, and this will be developed further in the coming years with large-scale government and industry support. The successful candidate will lead this with an emphasis on carbon flux dynamics and will bring their own substantial expertise in practical environmental science fieldwork, laboratory work and data analysis to the post, while maximising the benefits of working with a large network of scientists from academia and government.
This is a rapidly developing and exciting area of science, in a Co-Centre that operates between three jurisdictions to address some of the most pressing environmental challenges affecting society. As such the researcher will be well placed to develop their career pathway.
