Senior Engineer - Infrastructure
Location - Norwich, Tuddenham
Purpose of the role:
As a Senior Engineer, you will provide setting out/engineering control on site, including the supervision of trainee and site engineers.
What you will be doing:
1. Site engineering
o Establish the level and survey control for contracts. Set out detailed works as per the contract drawings ensuring that checks are made on a regular basis.
o Ensure records regarding health and safety and the work environment are complete, accurate, and comply with organisational and legal requirements.
o Deliver the work safely, without environmental incidents, and to the specified quality without defects.
o Assist the Site Agent/Sub Agent in developing efficient work methods and techniques, ensuring the best use of resources and abilities are made.
o Deputise for the Sub/Site Agent where required.
o Coordinate site engineering control and setting out activities and provide information to operatives and subcontractors.
o Complete diary sheets along with any photographic evidence as required.
o Undertake material reconciliations.
o Ensure all surveying equipment is calibrated.
o Carry out as-built surveys on complete works and drawings.
o Produce 2D and 3D site sketches.
o Assist in maintaining quality records, ensuring all works undertaken in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and maintaining the as-built records.
o Assist in basic planning, monitoring, and programming.
o Assist in mentoring junior and graduate engineers as required.
o Control and minimise waste on site.
o Identify/assist in introducing new processes, techniques, and innovations on site.
o Ensure all company property under your control is taken care of and stored securely when not in use.
o Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
2. Health, safety & environment
o Promote the company rules and establish safe working cultures and practices.
o Comply with company procedures and legal obligations.
o Promote and comply with environmental compliance.
o Deliver the works safely.
3. Quality
o Carry out instrumental checks in accordance with the agreed guidelines and schedule.
o Complete records of quality audits in accordance with agreed procedures and timescales i.e., at the end of works.
o Give feedback to the Site Agent/Sub Agent regarding areas where corrective action needs to be taken Compile ITPs.
4. Managing resources
o Ensure the availability of resources and that they consistently meet the client's requirements for quality, quantity, and prompt delivery.
o Deal with any actual or potential problems with resources promptly liaising with the Site Agent where necessary. Ensure records of resources are complete and accurate. Organise and conduct toolbox talks and issue method statements.
o Develop and maintain positive working relationships between operatives and staff; client and contractor; suppliers and contractors; public and contractors; and subcontractors and contractors.
5. Managing information
o Obtain all 'as built' information ensuring that it is accurate and relevant. Record, store, and maintain records and correspondence in line with organisational and legal requirements.
Key measures & targets:
