This post is for a Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This is a full-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly & supportive O&G team at Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This post is particularly suitable for doctors who have experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and will provide clinical experience on the second on call tier.
The post is a 10 PAs position (including on-call commitments) on the Specialty Doctor nationally agreed scale. There will be opportunities to embark on new ATSMs as appropriate, and it would be expected that any successful candidate would take an active role in the service provision of the department. In addition, they would be expected to have active participation in education and audit, which is a great opportunity to enhance your skillset.
The successful candidate will be expected to have full GMC registration at the time of appointment. Candidates without GMC will progress if shortlisted for interview, though will be expected to have GMC registration at the time of appointment.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be supported by, and work in conjunction with, the Consultants in O&G, working alongside the other second on call doctors, junior medical team and nursing & midwifery colleagues. There is on-call commitment on the second on call rota, so a minimum of 3 years O&G experience is required and a minimum of 12 months clinical experience including independent On Call activity in the UK.
This post is also suitable for senior trainees working towards their CESR. The department will support suitable and interested candidates with completion of ATSM based on the mutual needs.

Teaching & Training Responsibilities
The post will include a requirement to be involved in the teaching of junior staff, including those preparing for examinations such as MRCOG and DRCOG as well as teaching medical students from Liverpool University. There are also obstetric emergency study days and perineal workshops.
The trust is committed to continuing medical education and professional development. Successful candidates will be expected and encouraged to maintain and develop their skills and all appropriate study leave will be supported by the trust.
Research & Audit Responsibilities
Involvement in audit will be expected and encouraged. The trust has a well-established audit unit to support this.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Full MRCOG/ MD or equivalent medical qualification
* Further Higher Degree CCT/CESR or equivalent
Clinical Experience
* Completed 4 years full time post graduate training (or equivalent if part time) at least 2 of which shall be in a specialty training programme in the specialty
* Experience of a broad range of medical/surgical specialties
* Experience of Obstetrics & Gynaecology as a specialty trainee or has equivalent experience and competencies
* Participated on/experience of 2nd/3rd on call in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Evidence of achievements of ST1/ST2 competencies or equivalent relevant to Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Evidence of competence to manage Obstetrics & Gynaecology emergencies through continuous work based assessments, portfolio evidence, including log book documentation, if appropriate
* Experience & ability to manage junior medical staff
* RCOG ATSM or Equivalent and demonstrable experience including that relating to a special interest, Intermediate US skills module, LW ATSM, ATSM in acute gynaecology, advanced antennal practice, ambulatory gynaecology, colposcopy or similar
Teaching Experience
* Ability to teach clinical skills to Junior Doctors

* Publications in preferred journals
