Senior Process / Project Engineer (Pre-Sales & Execution)
Location: Leacroft Road, Warrington, Cheshire WA3 6JF
As a Senior Process/Project Engineer (Pre-Sales & Execution) with a leading engineering and equipment company, you will report to the Head of Process Engineering. Your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Creating designs and preparing technical and commercial proposals.
2. Overseeing project execution from detailed design to commissioning.
3. Managing smaller projects and providing support and mentorship to junior engineers.
4. Supporting the sales team with client visits and presentations.
5. Translating client requirements into technical solutions.
6. Process, equipment, and piping sizing.
7. Development of enquiry stage P&IDs.
8. Development of key assumptions, execution plan, and scope boundaries.
9. Costing of equipment/components supply.
10. Reviewing enquiry documents with multiple functions and obtaining clarifications where required.
11. Supporting multiple functions to prepare their respective scope and costings.
12. Consolidating costs and preparing an overall cost calculation.
13. Consolidating plans and developing an overall execution plan and timeline.
14. Preparing technical and commercial proposals in accordance with defined scopes of supply.
15. Maintaining proposal documentation in line with company procedures and policies to ensure compliance with set requirements & standards.
Performance – Pre Sales
1. Accuracy of designs/costings.
2. Accuracy of scope.
3. Management of scope gaps.
4. Delivery of proposals on agreed times.
5. Dealing with multiple proposals.
6. Design recycle/fast turnaround.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the project manager with:
1. Client visits and presentations.
2. Change control and scope variations.
Producing designs for:
1. P&IDs.
2. Equipment Lists.
3. Datasheets.
4. Process and Functional Descriptions.
Producing requests for quotations for sub-suppliers, reviewing, and obtaining clarifications where required.
Performing supplier’s bid analysis and recommending vendors to the project manager/supply chain manager.
Reviewing design documents with multiple functions and sub-suppliers to obtain clarifications where required.
Taking part in commissioning, product, and cleaning tests and initial production support.
Maintaining project documentation in line with company procedures and policies to ensure compliance with design and QHSE standards.
Performance – Execution
1. Accuracy of designs.
2. Achievement of contractual performance.
3. Scope, change & gap management.
4. Delivery of designs on agreed times.
5. Dealing with multiple contracts.
Qualifications:
1. Food/Dairy, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
1. Leading/Managing Process/Equipment Bids & Proposals.
2. Engineering and equipment supply for hygienic processes – food, dairy, beverage, pharma or home and personal care.
Skills:
1. Independently produce designs (P&IDs, mass/energy balances) from ‘blank canvas’.
2. Independently and accurately calculate process capacities, equipment, and piping sizes.
3. Independently assess risks and assure compliance to QSHE rules.
4. Manage small projects (scope, changes, cost, time & quality).
5. Manage a small number of engineers and contractors.
6. Support and mentor less experienced engineers.
7. Have in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, formulations ingredients (liquids & solids), technology, and equipment suppliers for food/dairy/beverage or home and personal care.
8. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiating skills.
Travel Requirements:
This position will require worldwide travel (2-3 times per year).
