What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Lead and manage a team of Planning Engineers and Cost Engineers, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of project controls activities across the portfolio.
2. Maintain an overview of all work within the designated portfolio and ensure compliance with the Investment Delivery Process (IDP) and best-practice planning and cost management standards.
3. Oversee the creation and maintenance of fully integrated, cost- and resource-loaded project plans using Primavera, ensuring accurate milestones and work breakdown structures are in place.
4. Guide project teams in establishing robust control estimates, supporting the wider estimating and cost tracking processes.
5. Perform regular portfolio-level reviews to monitor progress, calculate earned value, and assess physical percentage completion.
6. Work closely with Project Managers to provide analytically support, intelligent reporting, and risk insights that drive decision-making and delivery performance.
7. Facilitate project change control and risk management activities, ensuring clear documentation and traceability.
8. Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the Project Controls function, driving efficiency and best practice.
9. Support forward resource planning and play a hands-on role in recruitment, mentoring, and upskilling of your team.
10. Identify and respond to control gaps or under performance within the portfolio, putting remedial action plans in place to maintain project integrity.
What You’ll Need:
11. Degree or equivalent qualification in a numerate or technical discipline is preferred.
12. Extensive experience in project controls leadership, ideally within the nuclear, energy, or major infrastructure sectors.
13. Strong understanding of the full project life cycle and the interdependencies between time, cost, and commercial performance.
14. Advanced skills in Primavera P6, project controls tools, and financial systems such as SAP.
15. In-depth knowledge of both planning and cost management methodologies, and the application of Earned Value Management (EVM).
16. High-level analytically and numeracy skills with the ability to extract insights and trends from complex data.
17. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging at all levels of management and leading cross-functional teams.
18. Membership of a professional body such as MACostE is desirable.
