This fitter will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Colchester office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team. You will attract a salary of £37,165 - depending on experience plus a bonus of 3%. If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check. Job Purpose: Working in the field at different locations maintaining, repairing and constructing plant and equipment at various substations on the electrical distribution network, up to and including the 132000 volt system. Duties: Responsibility for all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment relevant to this role To perform risk assessments and maintain safe working practices Be able to operate hand held IT equipment to receive job instructions and record asset data information Maintain electrical plant and equipment from the low voltage network up to and including the 132000 volt network Undertake sub station inspections Report hazards and defects that they are unable to rectify through the appropriate reporting procedure Ensure quality of works meets with current procedures Be an ambassador for UK Power Networks and deliver excellent customer service Be able to work on their own or as part of a team You will work as part of a team of fitters that report to a Field Staff Supervisor and have the support of experienced Field Engineers. You will be predominantly based in the Area and may travel anywhere within the UK Power Networks area. Skills and Experience: Hold a current driving licence Have or be prepared to work towards a City & Guilds 2339 (formally 232) certificate in Electrical Power Distribution (or similar) Experience of working on regional electricity networks and knowledge of the electrical distribution network would be an advantage but is not essential Personal Skills: Work efficiently and communicate effectively with other team members Have the enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills and techniques Demonstrate a strong safety culture Be flexible in their approach to work Health & Safety Responsibilities: Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken.
