Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team at our head office in Ballyclare. The successful applicant will support key financial operations, working within an experienced team to ensure the smooth processing of transactions, reconciliations, and reporting activities. This is a full-time role, requiring 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate deadlines when necessary. Key Responsibilities Overseeing the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing, supplier payments, and statement reconciliation Managing internal invoicing and allocating costs across departments Reviewing and processing employee expenses Compiling monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making Preparing and posting month-end journals, including accruals and prepayments Maintaining and updating the Fixed Asset Register Preparing and submitting VAT returns in line with regulatory requirements Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts Performing stock reconciliations and contributing to stock control procedures Carrying out monthly balance sheet reconciliations Supporting the finance team with various administrative and ad-hoc tasks as required Performance Expectations Execute tasks efficiently and professionally Optimise time management and prioritise workloads effectively Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement Provide timely and accurate financial insights to aid business decisions Address potential financial discrepancies and escalate concerns appropriately Essential Requirements Part-qualified or fully qualified in a relevant accounting qualification (e.g. IATI, CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) Experience in a finance role with exposure to key responsibilities listed above (experience in management accounts, stock reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation is advantageous) Strong IT skills, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas) Familiarity with accounting software packages Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise across departments A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with a keen eye for detail Strong organisational and time management skills A team-oriented mindset with a commitment to supporting colleagues Why Join Us?
