Take our vision into the future.
AtkinsRéalis is one of the world’s leading engineering and design consultancies, with the breadth and depth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects. The Sustainable Land & Resource Management Practice within AtkinsRéalis is a well-established, award-winning, multi-disciplinary environmental and engineering practice with an extensive portfolio of regeneration and development projects and a highly skilled team. Our Practice provides support to the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, as well as several national frameworks, servicing a range of complex and challenging brownfield sites.
Due to expanding project workload and client base, we have a great opportunity for an individual with a strong technical background and experience in soils materials re-use and waste permitting, focusing on earthworks related permitting, landfill permitting, and sustainable re-use of soils on large infrastructure projects and construction sites to join our Sustainable Land and Resource Management team in the UK.
The role is UK-based and can be undertaken from any location. It offers flexible hybrid working but will require ad-hoc travel to AtkinsRéalis offices and client sites to support project delivery.
Your purpose:

* Technical support in respect to soils management and its re-use as part of earthworks, construction, and/or remediation.
* Liaison with clients, stakeholders, regulators, sub-contractors, and other internal disciplines.
* Work effectively as part of a team and with other professionals (environmental scientists, engineers, planners) to provide a consistent and integrated service to our clients.
* Maintain excellent professional relationships that will lead to and secure repeat business.
* Compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, including preparing and reviewing health and safety plans and managing health and safety on site.
* Provide technical guidance, constructive support, and mentoring to junior staff and support their technical development.
* Develop own competence and maintain CPD necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, with support from the business on training and development needs.
What you can bring:
* Proven track record of providing technical advice on soils waste management as part of earthworks, construction, and/or remediation earthworks and project management, including managing project teams resulting in delivery to high standards.
* Working knowledge and demonstrable understanding of relevant legislation, technical guidance, industry standards, and best practices, especially in respect to waste regulations and the application of DoW CoP; ideally, you will be a Qualified Person under the scheme.
* Technical knowledge of waste assessments, bespoke waste permit applications such as deposit for recovery and landfills, and waste classification and duty of care for waste acceptance and disposal.
* Experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports.
* Relevant post-graduate experience.
* Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
* Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage and mentor staff, as well as manage time and work as part of a team and individually.
* Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g., geology, geotechnics, hydrogeology, chemistry, environmental science).
* Flexible and prepared to take on new challenges.
* Full UK driving licence and the ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK and work on short-term assignments.
