Description | Salary £25,183 - £27,269 Per Annum | Fixed Term, Full Time, Until 30-Jun-2027, 37 Hours Per Week | School Improvement - Chorley | International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorship The Access to Education Service works with schools, children, and families across Lancashire to improve engagement with and attendance at school. As part of this, the School Attendance Legal staff undertake enforcement processes in order to discharge the local authority's statutory duty in respect of regular school attendance – including issuing penalty notices, parenting orders, education supervision orders, school attendance orders and delivering prosecutions in the magistrates' courts. Working in a challenging and high-pressure environment, you will use your excellent technical, ICT and administrative skills to support the delivery of School Attendance Legal enforcement, managing referrals for legal intervention in respect of school non-attendance, preparing cases for prosecution in the magistrates' court and working with our management information systems. Key Responsibilities To receive analyse interpret and process applications for education related penalty notices. To oversee the administration of the specialised penalty notice system on behalf of the court officer. Responsibility for online and manual penalty notice payments refunds court costs and direct deposits of cash. Responsible for monitoring finance and reporting budget reconciliation. Interpret information. make decisions and offer solution-focused problem solving on a range of complex and/or legal enquiries from various sources. Access and update information on case recording and management information systems. Manage electronic records, including maintenance, retrieval and research. To assist with the preparation of court files as directed by the court officer. Undertake the collection and evaluation of statistics and other management information as directed by the court officer. Assist as required with the supervision of support staff. Undertake related duties in the short-term absence of other support staff, as required. Applicant Requirements Applicants must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and have experience of providing administrative support and using Microsoft Office computer software. Applicants must have experience of working with specialised ICT systems and delivering general administrative functions. Knowledge of the legislation relating to school attendance legal matters would be advantageous but is not essential. Applicants must have a good level of ability in both verbal and written communication, ability to work independently, accurately under pressure and as part of a team. Applicants must also understand the requirement for confidentiality when handling sensitive data. Location The team are all currently working on a hybrid basis both from home and in the office. Flexibility and choice is offered however, there will be an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the office base regularly as part of their induction process.
