Role title: Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor
We are searching for a diligent and professional Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor (QHSE Advisor) to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for providing functional Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidance and coaching to our people including our supply chain partners.
The position supports our established teams in maintaining the highest Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) standards for the business.
In this position, you will perform a range of duties including completing onsite inspections and audits in accordance with all current and new compliance regulations, you will work with the teams in reviewing company processes, and liaising with our customers on any day-to-day business.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with knowledge of the latest industry procedures and regulations.
Key Skills (Experience / Knowledge / Qualifications)
1. Experience in completing QHSE inspections and audits.
2. Experience in interpreting the ISO standards.
3. Understanding of industry processes and regulations.
4. Exemplary interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisation.
5. Team player approach to overcoming challenges with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent organisational skills.
7. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Essential:
1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role ideally within Highways related construction activities.
2. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
3. IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.
4. Experience in completing accident / incident investigations.
5. CSCS competency card.
6. Full UK driving licence as travel will be required for this role.
Desirable:
1. Certificate in Environmental Management.
2. Certificate in Fire Safety.
3. IRCA certified internal auditor against either ISO 9001 or ISO 45001.
Principal Roles and Responsibilities
The following roles and responsibilities associated with this position are also shared with relevant members of the Wilson and Scott Management team and you will be required to work collaboratively with the respective members of the team to ensure the required deliverables are met.
1. Assist the W&S team in the management and ongoing continual development of the Integrated Business Management System (IBMS) including associated policies, standards, processes, procedures, and compliance activities relating to existing company certification to the following ISO standards:
1. ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
2. ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
3. ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems
4. ISO 39001 Road Traffic Safety Management Systems
5. ISO 44001 Collaborative Business Working Relationships
6. ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
7. PAS 2080 Carbon Management
8. Requirements of National Highway Sector Scheme 7 where appropriate.
1. Participation in external audits.
2. Assist with the delivery of internal audits, and with external resources where appropriate, to required standards.
3. Recording, monitoring, and reporting audit findings and liaise with the team in the identification of the root cause and implementation of corrective action plans.
4. Participation in annual management reviews in association with the senior management team.
5. Undertaking and recording appropriate workplace inspections.
6. Follow accident and incident investigation protocols to collect data and report findings.
7. Alert team members of emergency situations and potential escalation of incidents and accidents.
8. Participation in subcontractor compliance assessments and audits.
9. Implementation of environmental policies and practices.
10. Liaison with contractors, suppliers, clients, enforcement agencies, environmental consultants, and other relevant parties.
11. Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.
12. Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arising.
13. Communicate courteously with customers by telephone, email, letter, and face-to-face.
14. Investigate and resolve customers' challenges.
15. Maintain strict confidentiality at all times inside and outside of the business.
16. Attend and take part in any relevant meetings and regular reviews with your line manager/mentor.
17. Internal and external communications related to the role.
18. Collation and submission of month-end statistics in accordance with client requirements.
19. Any other duties as required and appropriate to the job role.
Salary and Hours of Work
Salary: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per annum
Hours of work: Your normal working hours will be 40 per week, these hours may change in order to fulfil the obligations of your role.
Location of work: Thatcham office and site visits across England
