Belmont Recruitment are seeking an experienced candidate to work with a Derbyshire-based Local Authority on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week. The succesful candidate will be required to work one out of four weekends on a rota basis.
The Countryside Warden will work in the Wider Sites Team across a diverse portfolio of Countryside sites including country parks, multi-user trails, and many other varied greenspaces.
Main Duties:
* Undertake duties supporting the day to day operation and management of sites and facilities (including canals) to the agreed standard of the Countryside Service.
* Provide information and assistance to colleagues, other councils, countryside bodies, private companies and the public.
* Undertake minor site improvement works under the direction of line manager Investigate, analyse and provide practical solutions to routine problems found on sites and facilities
* Assist with events and activities (as required) to ensure they run successfully.
* Assist with the delivery of access, conservation and environmental improvement across Derbyshire County Council’s countryside sites.
* Carry out site patrols and safety checks, as well as checking car park machines, litter picking and emptying bins
* Feeding waterfowl while monitoring for signs of avian flu.
* Supporting shop staff with deliveries, restock etc.
* Fencing and other maintenance work.
* Responding to public reports e.g. antisocial behaviour, injured wildlife etc.
Essential Criteria:
* Relevant qualification in countryside management or related subject, or minimum one year equivalent relevant experience relating to countryside sites and facilities.
* Working effectively with the public, including giving information and assistance.
* Experience in the principle duties relating to management of countryside sites and facilities.
* Use of IT packages including Microsoft Office.
* Practical countryside / maintenance skills
* Management of land for recreation and conservation.
* Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
