Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Preparing MDS trays for the dispensing robot. This includes manually putting medications into each tray that is not suitable to go into the robot, such as, large or brittle tablets.
* Dispense and check medication accurately that has been distributed in patients' pill trays by the robot for the pharmacist to complete the final check.
* De-blistering medication.
* Answer the telephone and respond to queries professionally.
* Order medicines and stock management.
* Ensure the correct storage of medication, including effective stock rotation.
* Monitor and check expiry dates on the medication.
* Comply with legal and company guidelines such as SOPs and GPhC regulations.
* Respect confidentiality of information concerning customers in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
* Support all members of the pharmacy team.

* receive and log prescriptions
* assemble prescribed items, undertake an in-process accuracy check and issue prescribed items

* provide appropriate advice when authorised on supplied medicines and products, their storage and disposal
* work within the parameters of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the pharmacy
