Job summary Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia, based at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will join an expanding, innovative and dynamic 32-bed general intensive care unit (John Farman ICU - JFICU) which admits over 1000 patients per year from all the major specialties excluding cardiac (most neuro-sciences and trauma patients are admitted to our sister ICU, NCCU). The majority of admissions to JFICU are emergency admissions and represent the complex mix of patients in Addenbrooke's with large numbers of transplant and hepatology patients. The JFICU medical team is also responsible for 24/7 medical support of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), which is responsible for the assessment and immediate care of all deteriorating adult patients in the organization. The successful applicant will join a team of 18 substantive Consultants providing 24/7 cover to the JFICU and RRT and will join a team of 85 substantive Consultant Anaesthetists providing anaesthetic sessions. Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in Intensive care Medicine and/or Anaesthesia or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.
