Job responsibilities We are excited to be offering a key role in taking Medway NHS Foundation Trust forward in its journey to outstanding. The Head of Medical Production and Performance is a new role and will give the successful applicant the opportunity to shape medical rostering and job planning practices in line with industry excellence. The post holder will be empowered and accountable for Medical Production within the Trust that will involve initially a complete review of existing practice, lead on business cases to implement an e-rostering solution and then develop high standards of rostering practice based on knowledge of business intelligence and demands. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that operational demands are met through standardised job planning and rostering processes (unit hour utilisation) They will oversee Divisional job planning activities and advise the Divisional leadership teams based on identified gaps and inefficiencies. The post holder will oversee the medical rotation processes to ensure that service demand are met and that medical production hours are fit for purpose and compliant with Trust policy. This will incorporate the review of current rostering delivery and design the optimal Trust wide solution reflecting NHS and industry best practice. This will include ensuring the visibility and compliance of all processes associated with medical production to improve their productivity and efficiency. Person Specification Qualifications Essential • Educated to masters degree level or equivalent, relevant post graduate professional qualification • Project management / implementation qualification (or equivalent demonstrable experience) Knowledge Essential • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the concepts and practices of medical production and job planning in NHS organisations. • Thorough knowledge and understanding of how effective performance management systems operate within the NHS • Understanding and experience of implementing medical production e-rostering solutions and thereafter the optimisation of solutions Experience Essential • Proven track record of medical production delivery at a senior level in a large complex service-focused organisation, including staff management, change management, performance management and business planning. • Significant operational experience in the NHS • Significant experience of medical production and performance using information and data frameworks in the NHS • Experience of large business case development and procurement within the NHS • Programme and project management / implementation experience Skills Essential • Highly developed leadership, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to motivate and engage individuals and teams • Intellectually flexible and creative, challenging current ways of working and roles to produce innovative service plans • Highly developed medical production data knowledge with the ability to use quantitative and qualitative information to stimulate performance improvement and provide assurance on performance and productivity • Ability to communicate directly to individuals at all levels both within the Trust and across partner organisations Technical Competencies Essential • Understanding of the different environments in which the Trust operates and ability to assess opportunities for innovation, partnership and enhanced care • Understanding of medical capacity, supply and demand and how to generate medical production solutions and innovations. • Highly developed and comlex Excel skills incorporating reporting knowledge from rostering systems
