PM Group requires mechanical project engineering support on a chemicals site in North West England.
Responsibilities:
1. Actively promote and support workplace safety.
2. Comply with all site SHE regulations.
3. Work closely with project contract personnel both on site and in pre-planning stages to ensure successful completion of projects without any injuries to personnel, loss of containments or damage to the environment.
4. Provide mechanical engineering expertise for successful implementation and completion of projects as requested by the business - on time and within budget.
5. Prepare detail design packages for mechanical / structural / civil and Building Services works including detail scope of work, cost estimate, drawings, installation and safety procedures.
6. Design to approved procedures to minimise potential for major process accident hazards.
7. Provide input to the procurement process by obtaining price quotations for project works and advising on contractor selection.
8. Supervision of contract staff carrying out site installation works including issuing of Permits (General Work Permits, Hot Work Permits).
9. Liaise with site maintenance and process personnel to ensure project takes account of operation, maintenance and energy efficiency requirements.
10. Provide problem solving support to Project, Operations and Maintenance Team as required.
11. Deliver mechanical Capex/Decom Projects in support of EP Site Capital Plan from concept through to commissioning and handover.
12. Support the on-going Knowledge Management, Quality Improvement and Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) programmes.
13. Responsibility for managing mechanical design resource (1 off draughtsman) and projects mechanical contractor (1 off contractor) plus coordination of site embedded mechanical project contractors to ensure efficient use of resources.
14. Support development of staff through relevant personal assessments and development of technical competencies, and promotion of teamwork within and between teams.
Qualifications:
1. Degree/HND/HNC in mechanical engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the chemical / petrochemical industry in a plant installation or design engineering role.
3. Ideally within a top tier COMAH site. Experience in managing contractors both internal and external to ensure correct delivery on time on budget.
4. Knowledge, awareness, experience of contractor and construction site safety.
5. Man management/Leadership skills – Able to both lead Mechanical orientated capital projects or to contribute as part of a multi-discipline team for larger capital projects (£0.5M).
6. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office systems – Word, Excel, Microsoft Project. Experience with AutoCAD ideally AutoCAD 3D.
7. Comfortable with issuing and controlling permits for both low and high hazard work (GWP, WAH, Hot Work etc.). Experience in leading small projects. Experience working on a Top Tier COMAH site and familiarity with associated regulations e.g. ATEX.
