Job summary The Deputy Matron supports the day to day running of the Community Hospital services by ensuring the provision of a high standard of care, providing advice and information to both patient's relatives' carers and junior staff. You will be working alongside our medical teams and Intermediate Care Teams, facilitating patient choice and promoting patient independence. The role of the Deputy Matron enables you to work with and across multiple different disciplines from primary to secondary care. Working closely with surrounding Acute Hospital sites, Intermediate Care Teams and Community Colleagues. Main duties of the job To provide a focused leadership role to manage staff and activities of the clinical area To act as a role model and maintain the highest standard of patient care by providing leadership and coordination of the community hospitals nursing team, leading by example and demonstrating effective role modelling to all members of the nursing team To use best evidence available to maintain a high standard of patient care To adhere to and practice within the Nursing and Midwifery's Code of professional practice To be recognised as a clinical expert within the post holder's clinical environment. Act as a mentor, teaching and supervising staff Responsible for the assessment of care needs and development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care The post holder is required to supervise and teach both registered and nonregistered staff To act as a deputy to the nominated Matron in all aspects of management.
