The role is office based at Oakfield House, 93 Preston New Road, Blackburn, BB2 6AY. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00pm.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our Team on a full time or part time, permanent basis. To support our growth strategy; Halo are recruiting for a Governance Officer.
The role of Governance Officer is a fairly new role in Halo and is pivotal in making sure Halo operates efficiently and effectively. Whether it is supporting the Board, working with Board members, or helping the Managing Director and Head of Operations, you will play a vitally important role. We recognise that governance is as much about working with people as it is about following rules and procedures.
Our role is flexible and will work for someone who wants to work part-time or full-time. The full-time role will be a hybrid position and will work closely alongside the Head of Operations to ensure the smooth running of the business.
About the Role – Attributes and Skills
We are looking for a Governance Officer who will take a proactive approach in maintaining our compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing Standards. Assuring compliance is vital to our standing with all our stakeholders and its importance cannot be overstated. You will work closely with the Head of Operations and our Governance Consultant to ensure compliance with the regulatory standards and the National Housing Federation’s Codes of Governance and Conduct. You will be able to use your initiative, prioritising tasks and deadlines but also working flexibly to meet the needs of the business. Your written and communication skills will be of a high standard and your relationship skills will be vitally important to working collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues.

The key responsibilities are:
* Maintain compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing Standards.
* Work closely with the Head of Operations and Governance Consultant.
* Prioritise tasks and deadlines flexibly.
* Prepare data for regulatory submissions.
* Assist with internal compliance audits.
* Support Halo’s internal controls structure.
* Collaborate to populate the in-depth risk register and assist in preparing risk reports for the Board.
* Maintain the conflicts of interest register.
* Assist in preparation of governance reports for the Board and Committees.
* Arrange and service Board and Committee meetings according to schedule.
* Draft and circulate Board and Committee minutes to deadline.
Qualifications
* Educated to Degree Level.
* Experience in managing governance related projects.
* Ability to engage with people from a wide range of roles, both inside and outside Halo.
* Influence others to pursue good governance practices.
* Hold a full U.K. driving licence and have a vehicle for work purposes.
