Caeruleus is redefining the boundaries of precision medicine. Harnessing advanced machine learning and proprietary isoform sequencing technologies, we’re pioneering a new era of therapeutic discovery beyond traditional gene expression analysis. Our revolutionary platform is transforming target discovery to develop medicines for millions of patients with unmet clinical needs. We are venture financed by global investors and supported by experienced company builders. The Opportunity We seek a Senior Scientist I (Cell and Molecular Biology) to join our wet lab team and lead the development of our target validation capabilities. This is not your typical biotech role—it requires solving complex challenges from first principles, not playbooks, collaborating across disciplines, and directly influencing scientific strategy. You will be working closely with a world-class team of experts in isoform discovery and computational biology to shape the future of medicine. Suppose you are ambitious, driven by impact, and eager to advance your scientific career in a fast-paced environment. This role offers unparalleled growth opportunities and the chance to contribute to groundbreaking scientific achievements. Our Values Scientific Excellence: Transparency and rigor drive us. Every result—positive or negative—is a step forward. Extreme Ownership: We take responsibility, solve problems, and get things done. Impact-Driven: We are motivated by the difference we can make for patients and science. Kindness: Flexibility, respect, and personal agency define our approach to teamwork. Ambition: We aim high, investing in ourselves and each other to achieve extraordinary goals. Add a Zero: We embrace technology and new methods to amplify our impact and resources. Key Responsibilities Develop and refine mammalian and iPSC cell culture systems and derived models for target validation workflows, including 2D and 3D organoid models. Optimize and implement CRISPR/a/i/9/13 systems, including transduction and transfection. Conducting and analysing high-throughput screening workflows using NGS, single-cell sequencing, and microscopy. Maintain detailed experimental records (ELN) and communicate findings through presentations and reports. Contribute to platform strategy through writing scientific publications, participating in strategy sessions, and supporting grant and IP filings. Essential Skills and Experience Extensive cell biology experience, including expertise in iPSC maintenance, iPSC-derived models and CRISPR-based methods. Experience with organoid-based models. Proficiency with image-based analysis techniques. Strong organizational and project management skills. Desirable Skills Basic coding proficiency in Python or R for data analysis. Interest in developing computational skills, including machine learning and lab automation (e.g., DoE). Excellent molecular biology skills, including PCR, ELISA, and sequencing library prep. Education & Qualifications PhD or postdoctoral experience in Molecular or Cell Biology or a related field. Prior experience in an industrial, entrepreneurial, or start-up environment is a plus. Compensation and Benefits Salary: Highly competitive Benefits: Pension scheme, Health Insurance, Cycle-to-Work program, generous holiday allowance, semi-flexible working and employee stock ownership plan. Scientific Benefits: Scientific publishing opportunities, conference attendance & an IT budget Location: In-person (Oxford, UK).
