Early Years Teaching Assistant
Salary: £22,070 FTE
Location: Primary school just outside Launceston
Contract Type: Temp-to-Perm (Initially with Teaching Personnel, transitioning to a school contract)
Start Date: w/c 6th January 2025 (or sooner, if possible)
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Term Time: 38 weeks (Support Staff Only)
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our team full-time at a primary school just outside Launceston. This is a temp-to-perm position, starting with Teaching Personnel and moving to a permanent contract with the school. Initially, this will be a temporary role, with an opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Pre-School/Nursery Manager to support and engage early years children in a variety of activities. You’ll assist in the organisation of pre-school tasks and group work, helping to create a safe, caring, and stimulating learning environment where children thrive.
Main Responsibilities:
* Support groups or individual children across all learning areas under the guidance of the Pre-School Manager, helping them to develop key physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills.
* Assist with planning, delivering, and evaluating activities linked to the Early Years Framework to encourage children’s development towards Early Learning Goals.
* Observe and record children’s progress and provide feedback to the Pre-School Manager and parents.
* Engage and encourage children by following their interests and helping them participate in planned activities, including using IT resources.
* Assist with practical tasks, such as tidying, serving snacks, and personal hygiene routines.
* Contribute to a vibrant learning environment by preparing and updating wall displays.
* Offer support to children with specific learning needs, ensuring they can fully access the EYFS curriculum.
* Accompany children on class outings and administer minor first aid or prescribed medications as necessary.
* Encourage positive behavior and self-discipline in line with the nursery’s behavior policy.
Key Skills & Attributes:
* Experience in early years settings or with young children
* Good understanding of the Early Years Framework
* Patience, creativity, and a nurturing approach
* Strong communication skills with children, staff, and parents
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to complete a new DBS check

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
