We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience in aspects of Immunology, HCPC registered, for a 5 months fixed term contract. They will collaborate closely with the Biomedical Scientist Team Lead to observe and implement the policies and procedures relevant to the role e.g. Infection Control, Health & Safety and Quality Policies. The post holder must comply with practices and procedures as dictated in the departmental Standard Operating Procedures. This post will be based at the Hemel Hempstead site, but staff may be required to attend meetings at the other sites. The laboratory operates between 08:00 am and 16:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The department uses the following equipment:
* Thermofisher Phadia 250 analysers
* Bluediver
* HTZ320.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting is essential. The successful applicant will be expected to have a good understanding of areas within Immunology, working in different sections on a rotational basis maintaining skills & competency. Experience of reading and interpreting a range of common patterns tested by indirect immunofluorescence and operating Phadia analysers is essential. The post holder will be responsible for performing tasks to meet the needs of the lab service. This could include a range of technical, scientific, professional & clinical duties to achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care, ensuring that the needs of the laboratory are met to deliver a quality clinical service. They are expected to maintain compliance with good laboratory practice, quality assurance procedures in accordance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards and participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes as well in the quality control, document, and incident reporting procedures.
