Role Overview: As a Community Highways Technician, you will provide technical expertise to deliver local traffic management priorities. Your responsibilities will range from delivering small-scale highway traffic management projects to commissioning Member-led highway priorities. 2 posts are available, one covering the North of the County (based at Stone) and the second covering the South of the County (based in Lichfield). Package Description Technician Grade 9 Our Vision Main Responsibilities In this role you'll: Be a proactive team member, ensuring consistent work practices in line with approved policies and procedures. Deliver a customer-focused, modern professional service, challenging work practices as required. Provide highways expertise and manage the Council’s duties to deliver large-scale complex programmes. Operate within pre-defined project budgets and funding, ensuring delivery is on-budget. Create and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships. Respond to community and stakeholder matters related to traffic management and road safety. The Ideal Candidate You'll have: Significant experience in a highway traffic management role within a local authority context. HND or Foundation Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Civil Engineering) or a professional qualification at Incorporated Engineer level. Experience implementing traffic management schemes and sign designs compliant with the TSRGD. Understanding of highway traffic management planning, including scheme delivery reports and database planning. Knowledge of statutory procedures associated with highway-related projects. Experience working in partnership with various stakeholders, including District Councils, community groups, and elected Members. Key Skills: Proven communication skills to articulate information effectively to colleagues, partners, stakeholders, and service users. Analytical skills with good attention to detail.
