Job Title – Trainee Sign Maker Wage - £12.21 p/h to begin with (minimum wage) - this is subject to rises as and when you find confidence in your skills and can work independently. Introduction We are Atlas Graphics SW Ltd, a sign making business based in Commercial Street, Plymouth. We opened in 2004 and have slowly expanded the business and our machinery. We produce various types of signage, such as vehicle and window graphics, signs, labels, overlay stickers, menus and leaflets, business cards, acrylic signage and much more. All our jobs are custom made, and so every job is different to one another. We are a small business, with just 5 members of staff at present, so we are looking for somebody else who can learn the roles within the business and help to fill in a recent vacancy. As a small business- we are never stuck within one role- we are always needed to adapt and help other areas within the business if needed. The person we are looking for as a business is able and eager to learn, and able to adapt to challenges when they arise. Someone who will be happy to fit signage in all weathers and is able to use technology confidently. As you gain confidence, we will also expect you to be able to be self-sufficient and find your own jobs via the system we have set up or emails- and not have to be directed. What skills must you have? You must have a full UK Drivers Licence. As your main role will be to drive to customers in our work van to fit signage- this is a requirement. If you feel like you satisfy all other needed skills, but you only have an Automatic UK Drivers Licence- please do still send your CV. You must be able to physically lift signage and graphics. As your main role will be fitting- it is a requirement to be able to lift signage. We will provide ladders, boom lifts, and assistance from others where needed- but you must be able and willing to handle these types of jobs. Similarly, you may have to stand for potentially multiple hours within the fitting and production role. You must be able to use a computer and emails, as this will be a part of some of your roles. You must be willing to learn. We have many roles and jobs within the business- which everybody helps with. If you are not able to learn new things, you will not be a good fit for the business. Of course, we will always give you time and help to learn these roles. You must be willing and able to be self sufficient as you gain confidence. As a small business- it is more efficient to be able to find the next job without being told by somebody else. We have a system in place called Trello which will have a list of next jobs, and the emails are also used if this is empty. You must be willing to use these systems. What skills would be preferable- but not a requirement? Any form of artwork skills will be preferable. Especially digital artwork/ graphic design. These skills are teachable- so are not a requirement, but this will be very beneficial in some roles. Any experience in fitting signage and graphics. Especially experience in vehicle graphics- as this will be a large part of your role. What roles will be expected? To begin with your roles will include: Helping to fit graphics onto vehicles and signs- when you are confident, we will expect you to be able to do this solo and travel to customers to fit signs to shops and windows etc. We have an opening in this role so this would be a role you will take on frequently. Small artwork jobs. You will be expected to be able to take on the small artwork jobs we receive such as boat names, label design, etc. We can teach you how to use our software- but we expect you to be confident with this role over time. This role will also include speaking to customers- mostly by email, but sometimes by phone or face to face. Production. After our signs and graphics are printed/ made, they go into production where we get them ready to fit, laminate, and package jobs. You will work with a member of staff to help this side of production where needed. Your main job in this role will be to package the acrylic signage we make. We may expect you to be able to learn a few of our machinery after you are confident in all other areas- but this is not a requirement in the early stages
