About The Role We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Factory Manager to join our House, Plants & Flowers team in Whittlesey. The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for the organisation and operation of the Production, Continuous Improvement and Warehouse. Ensuring that each department adheres to Company Health and Safety guidelines, works within set financial budgets and runs to maximum efficiency in terms of materials, labour and to the quality parameters laid down by the company and its customers’. Your key responsibilities will include: Consistently meet the required highs standards for safety, legality and quality within the business. As well as promoting Health and Safety of our site and colleagues. Have a tight control of the plants’ financial targets for each area of the operation Work in conjunction with the scheduling team to drive efficiency through the operation whilst maintaining control of the company’s costs Maintain an effective and efficient operations team based on highest industry standards and efficiency Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in conjunction with the site leadership team. Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care. Ensure the highest quality and safety standards are embedded throughout the factory and standards of hygiene and good housekeeping are maintained. Support a large site based Operations Team including Production, Warehousing and Ripening. Lead projects on site to deliver business growth and efficiency. Coach and mentor team members to drive our business values, ensuring that we provide a “great place to work” for colleagues. “Live and breathe” the company values and develop an engaged workforce. Work closely with the site HR team to ensure our people metrics are delivered, across absence, recruitment, and labour turnover. Ensure objectives and tasks set for individuals meet the overall Strategic Business Plan for the site and overall business and that Continuous Improvement Plans are delivered, working closely with the Site Director and direct reports. Monitor budgets, suggest improvements to the Site Director which will reduce cost through lean efficiency’s, resource planning etc and implement as required. Ensure that operations leaders are compliant with internal SOP’s, processes and procedures through day to day interaction. To ensure KPI’s are set and met in line with the core business values and targets. Drive the delivery of a culture, which promotes effective, consistent and efficient practices and leverages them. In addition to the above, you are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required What are we looking for? Lean Manufacturing qualification covering Six Sigma and 5S etc. Be working as a /Factory Manager/Production Manager/Operations Manager, or equivalent, within a large scale, fast-paced production environment - ideally within the flower sector or across Food Manufacturing. NEBOSH general certificate Advantageous to have PRINCE2 or Project Management qualification Have a proven track record in an operational management role in particular delivering results, with a strong emphasis on leading, motivating and developing. Have experience in leading and coaching managers to drive forward results and step change operational performance would also be a great advantage, and would be in line with the expectations of our current managers Have a good working knowledge of the tools and techniques of Continuous Improvement and how to integrate them into a business Ability to develop a people centred culture based on the continuous pursuit of best practice in manufacturing Ambition and true self-motivation, we provide significant autonomy and require high energy and considerable flexibility Has clear focus on the needs of different stakeholders Determination and resilience to cope with setbacks and to manage difficult circumstances proactively and professionally and make confident considered decisions A keen eye for quality with a strong knowledge of operating quality processes and systems What's in it for you?
