As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be instrumental in leading and overseeing the successful delivery of residential, commercial, education, leisure and retail, heritage and other projects. With your expertise in working on complex schemes and your ability to collaborate effectively, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact to our business, grow and share in the success that this brings and grow with the role.

The Person
We want like-minded people to be part of our long-term sustainable growth and have a fantastic opportunity within our team for a talented and ambitious Structural Engineer.
The role is based in Manchester and the majority of our work is in the north-west of England. However, we offer national coverage and therefore you will be required to travel which, occasionally will involve overnight stays.
We offer flexible working hours and allow staff to work remotely.
The ideal candidate will have specific experience in surveying and report writing as well as design of remedial and refurbishment schemes. However, we are willing to consider candidates with less experience in this field if they have a willingness to learn this aspect of Structural Engineering.
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of buildings and structures, diagnosing issues, and providing recommendations for remedial works. Your expertise will help ensure the safety, integrity, and longevity of structures, working alongside Clients, Architects, and other design team members.
Key responsibilities:
* Conduct detailed surveys and inspections of buildings and structures to assess their structural integrity and identify any defects or potential issues.
* Provide written reports clearly documenting your findings, including the severity of any problems and recommended actions.
* Preparation of condition reports and planned maintenance programmes (PMP).
* Carry out structural assessments, including reviewing building plans, evaluating foundation conditions and other structural members to identify and diagnose structural defects.
* Structural design and production of calculations for remedial work, alteration and refurbishment schemes.
* Production of drawings using computer aided design software and hand sketches.
* Offer expert advice to clients on structural concerns, repairs and structural alterations.
* Work closely with architects, contractors and project managers to plan and oversee remedial work schemes.
* Site inspections and contract administration.
* Production of fee proposals, arranging appointment documents, invoicing and cost control.
Core skills required:
* A qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field.
* Achieved, or working towards achieving, a professional qualification (incorporated or chartered) with a relevant professional governing body (e.g. IStructE or ICE)
* Proven experience in Structural Surveying is preferable however, a willingness to learn this aspect of Structural Engineering will be considered.
* Strong understanding of building pathology, building regulations, structural analysis and assessment techniques.
* Excellent report writing skills and ability to communicate complex technical information.
* Ability to use industry specific software (e.g. AutoCAD and structural analysis tools – Tedds, Master Series, Tekla)
* Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
* A full driving licence.
