You will be joining a new side to this business that is designing and implementing AV and workplace technology solutions with our sister company Area for a wide range of clients.
About the role
We are seeking an AV Design Engineer to join our small (but quickly growing) team within a well known design and build office fit-out group. This role will involve both the design and costing of AV system proposals for a variety of workplace projects, as well as managing key aspects of project delivery including procurement, supplier negotiations, invoice management, and documentation.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of AV systems and excellent project management skills to ensure seamless project execution from design to delivery.
We have offices in both London and Windsor. The successful candidate will have the option to be based at either location, and will be expected to travel between both offices as needed, with some time also spent working on-site.
Key Responsibilities
AV System Design
* Work closely with client teams and/or their tender documents to understand their needs and recommend appropriate AV solutions.
* Develop detailed AV system designs for a variety of requirements, ensuring they meet client expectations and specifications.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD to draw up AV plans, elevations and schematics where required.
* Typical systems include meeting rooms, divisible spaces, collaboration hubs, town hall spaces, digital signage, booking solutions, LED walls and background music systems.
* Ensure the designs are coordinated with our in-house design and costing teams.
Costing & Proposal Preparation
* Provide accurate costings for AV system proposals, including equipment and installation costs.
* Prepare proposal slides that outline system specifications, costs, and implementation timelines.
* Collaborate with sales and project management teams to ensure proposals align with budgets and project timelines.
Project Coordination & Management
* Oversee the procurement of AV equipment and materials, ensuring timely purchasing within budget.
* Track and manage project deliveries, ensuring that all necessary materials and equipment arrive on time and in good condition.
* Create purchase orders and then check and verify invoices against POs and delivery receipts, ensuring accuracy and managing discrepancies.
* Liaise with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms of supply to ensure the best value for the project.
* Producing O&M packs and other product documentation as required.
* Attend internal and client project meetings where required to coordinate AV implementation.
* In some instances, assisting with client support issues following project completion.
* Technology & Industry Expertise:
* Stay up to date with the latest AV technologies, trends, and industry standards, ensuring the company’s offerings remain cutting-edge.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
* Proven experience as an AV system designer or in a similar role within the AV or construction industry. Ideally at least 2 years.
* Strong knowledge and experience of AV systems and technologies required for workplace and offices.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating AV drawings and schematics.
* Strong costing and budgeting skills, with the ability to produce accurate costings and project proposals.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical clients.
Desirable
* Procurement and project coordination experience, including vendor management, invoicing, and delivery tracking.
* Certification or qualifications in AV design or related fields (e.g., CTS, CEDIA, etc.).
