Phlux is an award-winning tech start-up based in Sheffield, UK. The company has commercialised a breakthrough infrared sensor technology that will be at the heart of advanced driver safety features using LIDAR, ultra-fast low latency communication networks, and seeing the invisible with 3D imaging.
The company has just raised £9M of investment, is revenue generating and currently employs 20 members of staff divided between Operations, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Semiconductor devices and Finance.
The Role:
The role of Production Test Operator is a key role to Phlux enabling us to deliver high quality products to our customers.
The successful applicant will join our operations team as we continue to productionise our current products whilst developing future product ranges designed for LIDAR, greenhouse gas sensing, defence systems and telecom applications.
Working at our Sheffield site, you’ll undertake a range of tasks which will include the setting-up and operating test equipment, testing of our sensors, ensuring internal processes and Health & Safety measures are followed and carrying out quality checks.

The ideal candidate will be happy working in a fast-paced production environment and have a ‘can-do’ attitude with a strong work ethic. Training will be provided as appropriate, although if you have worked in a fast-paced hi-tech industry such as electronics or semiconductors before, that would be an advantage.
You will be trained in multiple skills such as:
1. Running automated test equipment.
2. Following operating procedures to carry out a range of electrical and optical tests of our sensors.
3. Safe handling and packing of sensitive electrical components.
4. Picking and packing products and prototypes.
5. Data entry for manufacturing and testing data.
6. Record keeping and updating electronic documentation.
7. Supporting daily operations activities.
8. Maintaining the work area ensuring it is safe, clean, and organised.
9. Working in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
10. Liaising with our internal supply chain team to ensure that orders are tested on time and with required quality.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential:
1. GCSE passes in English, Maths and Science
2. Good team working skills.
3. Ability to undertake delicate manual tasks.
4. Attention to detail.
5. Effective communication
6. Be self-motivated.
7. Possess the ability to take initiative
8. Positive, proactive and able to work independently
9. Computer literate (Office suite)
Desirable:
1. Experience of working within a production environment such as electronics or semiconductors.
Goals:
3 months
1. Familiarity with team, technology, and relevant processes / procedures.
2. Proficient in the testing of packaged current production sensors.
3. Proficient in data entry requirements for test process.
4. Proficient in packing sensors for shipment to customers.
5. Able to participate and suggest improvements to existing processes.
6. Able to recognise quality issues and act appropriately.
6 Months
1. Capable of setting-up automatic test equipment.
2. Responsible for completing production test of our packaged sensors to schedule.
3. Proficient in loading sensors into our Burn-in and Pick & Place systems.
4. Proficient in set-up and operation of our Wafer probe test station.
5. Take ownership of testing equipment and propose actions for continuously improving the process

Hours of Work:
We work 37.5 hours a week, Monday – Friday ideally but 3–4-day a week or flexible working will be considered.
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 depending on experience and qualifications (or £13-15 /hour) (inc. bonus / performance award).
