Duration: 2 x Permanent roles available.
Location: These roles are based in London Waterloo General Offices with the option of being based in Milton Keynes. These roles are a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered.
Band & Salary: Band 4C 43,588 - 49,037

About the role
We support the commercial side of Network Rail Property. This consists of three key areas:
1. Retail, which focuses on the retail units, advertising contracts & car parks in managed stations and surrounding areas generating 180m+ Income per annum.
2. National Portfolios, which focuses on easements, wayleaves, and telecoms income generation 25m+ per annum.
3. Interface Management Team, who liaises with Network Rail and the Arch Company after Project Condor.
The teams are predominantly based in Waterloo General Offices, but we also have team members based in Milton Keynes Quadrant.
What does the average day look like?
In this role, you will provide financial advice to senior budget holders, helping them understand period results and forecasts. As the accounting practices expert, you will ensure accounts are accurate and relevant through period accruals, transfers, and adjustments. You will manage corporate governance, reviewing compliance with financial regulations to protect the business. Delivering business reviews and reports, you will highlight significant financial issues for informed decision-making. You will guide senior team members on financial positions and initiatives to improve performance. You will develop plans and budgets for good governance and valuable analysis. Managing commercial risks, you will assess new customers or suppliers and influence decision-makers. Overseeing central accounting functions, you will ensure efficient service delivery. You will conduct investment appraisals and business case analyses, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and achieving area targets.
Essential Criteria
1. Demonstrate strong understanding of business needs and relevant application of accounting standards.
2. Membership (or working towards a membership) of a relevant accounting body (CIMA/ACCA) or equivalent experience.
3. Expert knowledge and experience of creating and maintaining accounts and annual budget.
4. Significant experience within relevant finance disciplines.
5. Strong excel skills and use of data manipulation.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Ability to interpret technical accounting regulations into everyday language.
8. Demonstrable effective influencing skills at a senior level.
9. Significant understanding of financial control and risk.
10. Excellent technical finance and accounting knowledge.
Desirable Criteria
1. Understanding of project management principles and experience of managing complex projects.
2. Membership of a relevant accounting body.
3. Extensive experience of Oracle based systems.
4. Degree or equivalent qualification in finance and accounting or business management or experience.
