With our exciting new Heart of Africa zone due to open in Spring 2025, we have a number of exciting temporary opportunities within our Food & Beverage teams.
The Role:
As a Food & Beverage Assistant, you will be working in one of our restaurants, coffee shops, kiosks, our 450 seater street-kitchen serving Indonesian inspired street-food, or even the Oakfield, our award winning British gastro-pub and once home to the zoo's founder, George Mottershead and his family. You will:
* Provide excellent customer service
* Prepare a variety of food & drinks for our visitors
* Handle cash and card payments
* Ensure our units are kept stocked and clean
We are looking for people who are flexible to work across these different units and carry out a variety of tasks as part of our 'One Team' approach, supporting our colleagues to serve our 2 million visitors. No two days will be the same!
The Package
* Temporary contract, starting 17th May 2025, until 7th September 2025
* Rate of pay of £12.21 per hour regardless of age
* Working on a rota basis with a minimum of 8 hours per week up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Hours will vary and can be significantly more during busy periods. This includes weekends, bank holidays and evenings
* Annual leave which accrues based on hours of work
* Staff pass so you can visit the zoo during your time off, plus complimentary tickets for your friends and family
* Free bus travel available on the X1 from Chester and Ellesmere Port train stations
Our Requirements
* Be passionate about excellent customer service and be a strong communicator
* Be confident, flexible and approachable with a “can do” attitude
* Experience of working within a fast-paced Food & Beverage environment, as well as experience of cash handling and using EPOS systems would be advantageous
Flexibility in these roles is key, so the successful candidates must be able to work up to 5 days out of 7 every week. This will include weekends, mid-week and bank holidays as required. You will also be required to sometimes work until 10pm for our special event evenings.
