About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team in Milton Keynes. This role is integral to ensuring the seamless procurement and planning of materials and products that meet operational needs. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for strategic purchasing, inventory management, and forecasting to optimise costs while maintaining product availability. Your focus will be on ensuring 100% on-time and complete delivery of customer orders while maximising value through quality, service, cost efficiency, and inventory management.
Key Activities:
Procurement & Purchasing:
* Identify and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery capabilities.
* Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements with suppliers.
* Placing orders in MRP system and owning order’s life cycle
Inventory Management:
* Track inventory levels and adjust orders based on usage patterns and demand forecasts.
* Work with external warehouse to ensure the right stock levels are maintained to avoid disruptions.
Demand & Supply Planning:
* Analyse historical data to predict material requirements and plan accordingly.
* Place orders based on demand forecasts and production schedules.
Reporting & Documentation:
* Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, order status, and supplier performance.
* Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and delivery confirmations.
Cost Control:
* Work to reduce procurement costs through vendor negotiations, bulk buying, and sourcing alternatives.
Communication
* Share details of any delays and changes to schedule and update MRP to support best customer service.
Areas of Responsibility:
* Procurement & Supplier Management: Sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers to secure materials. Supplier review with use of score card.
* Inventory Management & Optimization: Tracking, controlling, and optimizing inventory to avoid shortages or excess. Supported by Inventory reserve report.
* Data Management & Reporting: Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of procurement and inventory metrics. Receipting stock, processing stock adjustments and keeping MRP up to date.
* Compliance: Ensuring adherence to company policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards in procurement activities.

* Analytical Thinking – Proficiency in data analysis to identify trends and make informed purchasing decisions.
* Attention to Detail – Accuracy in managing procurement processes and maintaining inventory records.
* Excellent Communication – Effective collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders.
* Time Management – Ability to prioritise and manage multiple procurement and planning tasks simultaneously.
* Minimum 2 years experience in Purchasing is required.
* Excel Numeracy
