Assembly, Inspection, and Stores Assistant required for a well-established manufacturer based in Swindon. This is a permanent full-time position, working a day shift offering an attractive salary of £26500 plus a range of highly attractive employee benefits. This is a varied role using your skills in 3 key areas: Assembly of machined parts, Stores, and Inspection, therefore you will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn a wide range of duties and tasks.
The assembly of machined parts does require excellent attention to detail due to the range of small and intricate components that make up the product, therefore you will need to have plenty of patience and concentration for this daily task. You will be offered full product training and will move between assembly tasks as you learn the key job functions. Working as part of a team will include excellent communication skills, with the confidence to ask for assistance as and when required, and learning all elements of the assembly and product process. This part of the job represents 90% of the role, therefore you must be willing to learn all elements of fine assembly.
Each day you will be responsible for assisting in the stores area, checking, and removing material waste which includes moving heavy containers at the end of each production line. If you have a forklift license, this would be a keen advantage, or the employer is willing to invest in FLT training for the right person. This part of the job also includes the unloading of materials from deliveries plus the movement and distribution of customer orders through to despatch.
Product inspection and quality control plays a key part too and this includes the consistent checking, counting, and inspection of parts throughout the whole process, and the use of an in-house MRP system used for checking and allocating parts. At any point, you will be expected to flag issues to management before pre-pack final stages and pre-distribution.
As Assembly, Inspection, and Stores Assistant you will work as part of a professional and experienced team, working to daily targets, willing to move between tasks without issue. This role requires the lifting of heavy materials, therefore someone who can work in a safe and controlled manner is key to this position. You will need a Full UK Driving License (occasional delivery to customers using company transport). There is a need to have IT skills due to the use and input of data into the stock ordering system
