Job summary Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the host organisation for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance and the Chair of the Alliance acts as Senior Responsible Owner for the programme in its entirety. The NHS Long Term Plan published on 7 January 2019 included a new ambition to diagnose 75% of people with cancer at an early stage by 2028. To help deliver on this ambition, the Plan also committed to the extension of targeted lung screening across England. People aged between 55 and 74 years, who smoke, or have ever smoked, will be invited for a lung health check and, where required, be offered a low dose CT scan. The Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance is central to driving change necessary to implement the recommendations outlined in the both the NHS Long Term Plan and the Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria Strategy. This is an exciting opportunity and a TLHC Nurse who will have a pivotal role in the Targeted Lung Health Check programme, contributing to TLHC virtual MDT meeting across all sites (Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre, Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire). They will be the key point of contact between the third-party delivery partners, secondary care, screening participants and the Cancer Alliance TLHC programme team. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will act as a link between the external supplier's nurses, local medical teams across both primary and secondary care, and screening participants. Working closely with key stakeholders, this role will be central to the delivery and successful implementation of the TLHC screening programme. The TLHC nurse is expected to contribute to TLHC virtual MDT meeting across all sites (Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre, Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire), working closely with the TLHC Lead Nurse, TLHC Clinical Director, Respiratory and Radiologist leads, to facilitate a robust assurance and governance process which meet the requirements of the national TLHC team. The TLHC nurse will be expected to work with significant autonomy and be responsible for the delivery of MDT outcomes, encompassing effective communication with patients and the delivery of electronic referrals. This role is predominantly working from home; however, the successful candidate will be expected to attend face to face TLHC team meetings and training when required. It is expected that the post holder will work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and have clinical experience in the field of Respiratory and/or Oncology.
