Support Worker - Female Only

Location: Hedge End, Southampton, SO30
Salary: £12.00 per hour (£23,400 per year, pro rata) plus Benefits
Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis
Employment type: Full-time, Permanent, Flexible

We are on the lookout for Female Communication Support Workers who are calm, patient, and resilient. You will need to be able to drive and have a consistent approach to assisting the people we support to engage in the interests they love.
Furthermore, as Support Worker you will be responsible for:
1. Daily activities such as personal care; laundry; meal preparation; medication and administration
2. Getting to know the person you will care for and help her to live the life she wants to live
3. Taking personal responsibility for the quality of care and assistance delivered to the person you will care for
4. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the person you will take care of
5. Helping the lady you will assist plan towards and achieve both short and long term aims
6. Planning and be in favour of activities, such as vacations, learning and social engagements always being creative and exploring new opportunities
7. Ensuring the person you will assist and their families, are treated with respect, dignity, and equality
8. British Sign Language trained to Level 1 or above
9. To work in accordance with SeeAbility’s values
We are looking for someone who can devote to 37.5 hours per week and are willing to work on a shift rota basis, covering mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Who will you be supporting?
At Stewards Bungalow, we support a lady with autism who is non-verbal. Although, the lady is able to hear perfectly, she communicates and expresses herself using British Sign Language to an extreme high level. Therefore, is really important to us that you are able to understand very quickly what she is saying letter by letter.
As a support worker your contribution will be invaluable. You’ll work as a team to ensure an outstanding support in line with our vision and best centred care. Helping this lady to live as independently as possible.

Responsibilities
10. Providing direct support when displaying behaviours to enable her to participate in a wide range of activities
11. Ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety
12. To promote independence and develop skills whilst assisting with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences
13. To work positively with other agencies, carers, and other services to ensure person-centred care for the lady we support
14. Develop and contribute to the maintenance of records and support plans and function as a Key worker when required
15. To support our person to maintain a clean-living environment appropriate to meet her individual needs
16. To participate in regular and ongoing training relevant to everyone's needs
