Estimator / Senior Estimator – Rail / Civil Engineering Office Locations: Pontyclun, Swanley, Basingstoke, or Highbridge Region: South (including Wales, Western, & South East business units) About the Opportunity AmcoGiffen is seeking an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join our pre-contract team in the South region. In this role, you will be instrumental in estimating contracts and projects during the pre-contract/tender stage for a variety of multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on the CP7 framework projects. Business Unit Overview Our South region is dynamic and actively engaged in numerous projects at the pre-contract/tender stage across engineering and rail infrastructure, including: Civil Engineering & Building Works Mechanical & Electrical Works Electrification & Plant Works We deliver a wide array of projects such as bridges, footbridges, embankments, station improvements, platforms, tunnels, and electrification throughout Wales, Western, and the South East. Our pre-contract team operates on diverse infrastructure projects that range from one-off tenders to long-term agreements with key clients. Current Contracts Include (not limited to): CP7 Infrastructure Projects Minor Works and Environment Agency Frameworks Works such as bridge reconstruction/replacement and station improvements Key Responsibilities As an Estimator or Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in managing tender opportunities and ITTs. Your key responsibilities will include: Effectively registering, controlling, and administering tender documentation. Preparing and managing tenders from the receipt of documents through to delivery. Presenting tenders at review meetings to senior management. Liaising with the Supply Chain team on supplier/subcontractor inquiries. Conducting technical and commercial appraisals of labour, plant, materials, and temporary works. Performing take-offs from drawings and producing cost-effective tenders based on first principles. Analysing and pricing risks associated with tenders. Preparing tender submission documents and estimating reports. Assisting in the proposals and contract management functions. Essential Requirements To be successful in this role, you should have: Previous experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in a rail infrastructure setting, particularly in multi-disciplinary projects and/or frameworks. Expertise in First Principles Estimating. A solid background in Rail and Civil Engineering projects. Experience working as a Senior Estimator within a rail contracting organisation. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a site-based or operational role prior to your estimating career is highly advantageous.
