To provide clinical leadership, advice, and support for junior members of the team. To assist the unit manager in leading development and changes on the ward. To support the deputy ward manager/ward manager in the management and leadership role, including contribution to the locality management team/MDT. To support the ward manager to achieve team objectives, targets, and quality standards.
To contribute to the promotion of staff well-being and morale in the team through developing and maintaining supportive relationships, acting as a role model. To deal with complaints in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. To maintain adequate resources for the delivery of care. To assist in the implementation and monitoring of all Trust policies and procedures and local protocols on the ward, ensuring that clinical practice standards are adhered to and implemented.
To provide management supervision and appraisal of the work of band 5 and below, which may include admin staff, using the knowledge and skills framework and being supportive. This may also include assisting in the delivery of group or individual clinical supervision. To complete risk assessments, clinical and non-clinical, ensuring they are updated and that all staff know their responsibilities in relation to this. To deputise for the ward manager in their absence and for other nursing staff when necessary.
