About the Role The Department of Linguistics, within the School of the Arts is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Linguistics. This post is full-time and fixed-term, available as a maternity cover. Duties will include convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, (co)-supervising PhD students, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. You will be expected to teach across the field of Sociolinguistics, on undergraduate and postgraduate modules such as Language in the UK, Research Methods, Sex Gender and Language, Sociolinguistic Variation and Change, and Sociophonetics. About You You will hold a PhD in Linguistics or a related subject or have an equivalent professional qualification, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, good organisational and communicative skills are also essential. About the School The School of the Arts is a newly created School within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, which comprises seven Schools that deliver the research and education activity of the Faculty. The School offers a range of programmes at UG, PG, Foundation and Masters level, and also offers courses to students across the University. The salary will be Grade 5, £50,685 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. It is expected that the successful candidate will hold it for the full period.
