We seek a detail-oriented and proactive Gallery Assistant to join our team at Woodbury House. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various tasks, including arranging shipping, packing artwork, managing inbound calls, and handling general gallery duties. The role requires excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Arranging Shipping: Coordinate the shipment of artwork to clients or storage facilities, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to shipping protocols.
* Packing Artwork: Prepare artwork for shipping or storage, ensuring that all pieces are properly protected and packaged.
* Sending Welcome Packs: Assist in creating and sending welcome packs to clients, providing them with essential information about their purchases, upcoming exhibitions and events.
* Artwork Management: Measure and verify the arrival of new artwork, update inventory systems, and ensure accurate documentation.
* Handling Inbound Calls: Act as the primary point of contact for inbound calls to the gallery, addressing inquiries from clients, artists, and the public. Redirect calls to the appropriate person or department as needed.
* Art Logic Management: Utilize Art Logic or similar software to manage inventory, sales, and client information, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
* General Gallery Duties: Perform various tasks to support the day-to-day operations of the gallery, including maintaining cleanliness, managing supplies, and running errands as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in an art gallery or related field.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with art management software (e.g., Art Logic).
* Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
* Passion for the arts and a desire to contribute to the gallery’s success.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in Art History, Arts Administration, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
Working Conditions:
This role primarily operates in a gallery setting, with occasional off-site tasks such as shipping arrangements or errands. Flexibility in scheduling may be required to accommodate gallery events and exhibitions.
Salary: £30,000.00 per annum
Working Days & Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 10:00 – 18:00
Friday: 10:00 – 17:00
