Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Fire Safety Manager on behalf of our client based in Manchester.
This is a full-time role on a fixed term contract initially till 28/3/25 at £400 per day.
The successful candidate will be undertaking all fire safety management duties, manage the FRA remedial works programme, act as the lead for property fires, liaise with GMFRS, and work with the Building Safety Manager in managing MCC's 12,500 stock, including high-rise accommodation.
This is a driving role so a clean license and vehicle is required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure the effective delivery of all fire safety works are completed to a high level of customer satisfaction and legal compliance.
2. Provide assurance to the Head of Design & Delivery, Executive Management team, and the relevant Corporate Board and Housing Advisory Board on all fire safety compliance matters.
3. Support and advise on procurement of contractors for fire safety works, drafting work specifications and quality standards where needed.
4. Participate in tender valuation and contractor selection as required.
5. Follow up on incidents, be involved in new developments, and provide help and advice to colleagues and managers across the business.
6. Provide ongoing advice on the competency of contractors to undertake works and ensure robust contract management by monitoring quality of work for compliance with fire safety legislation and guidance.
7. Ensure fire risk assessments, inspections, and audits across all stock, including residential premises and workplaces, are undertaken.
8. Conduct regular site inspections, surveys, and audits of buildings, particularly in-scope buildings.
9. Develop and implement fire safety emergency plans and procedures for all residential and workplace premises.
10. Help shape the team's approach to fire & building safety.
11. Prepare the organisation for impending legislative changes.
12. Establish policies, procedures, and systems that ensure fire & building safety is managed with appropriate records kept.
13. Assist with the fire risk assessment programme, ensuring actions are fully addressed with appropriate evidence.
Person Specification
1. You must have worked in a similar role.
2. You will have sound technical knowledge and experience.
3. You will be organised and methodical with a logical approach to building and fire safety.
4. You will be a team player who can work effectively with internal teams, external agencies, and residents, focusing on building and fire safety.
5. You will have great IT skills to produce reports and statistical data that improve understanding.
6. You must be able to demonstrate current knowledge of relevant legislation, ideally with experience of practical application.
