Are you looking for your first post as a newly qualified dietitian, or a band 5 that is looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent band 5 to work across our acute medicine wards.
You would join a large department of friendly, patient-focused dietitians and dietetic assistants who strive to provide a high-quality, evidence-based service. From patients stepping down from ITU to patients in the acute rehabilitation stage, you will be working with patients from 16 years old through to centurions with a vast range of clinical conditions! Good knowledge of nutritional support, enteral feeding, and modified texture diets is essential. There will be opportunities to complete audits, service development projects, staff training, and to showcase dietetics at events throughout the year. This work may be dietetic led or in close partnership with AHP, medical, or nursing colleagues.
We have a preceptorship programme and regular CPD opportunities to support your professional development whilst promoting evidence-based practice across all aspects of service provision. We also have regular opportunities to support student dietitians from 3 local universities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Dietitian committed to providing high-quality patient care. You will be supported to work with an established MDT.
If this sounds appealing, please do not hesitate to contact us for more details, and we look forward to receiving your application.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a friendly team, which forms part of the larger dietetic team at the QE Hospital of over 50 dietitians covering various specialities. You will work closely with therapy colleagues and the band 7 team leads and senior dietitians to help develop the acute medical services. You will be supporting the wider team in a fast-paced environment, so good leadership and communication skills are essential to this role.
You will take on a valuable role in the assessment and treatment of a variety of complex patients, so the applicant will ideally have experience within a range of specialities including acute medicine, enteral feeding, and oral nutritional support. This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to consolidate and advance their skills and knowledge in a range of clinical areas.
As a service, we are committed to continued professional development with dedicated development sessions delivered cross therapy and are supportive of involvement in audits, projects, and research.
The post is full time (37.5 hours) although applications are welcomed for any part-time or job share opportunities.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Kiri Pointon-Bell (Kiri Pointon-Bell@uhb.nhs.uk) or on 0121 3713485.
