SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Salary: GBP11.72 : GBP12.78 per hour (actual salary: GBP20,941.30 : GBP22,835.30, depending on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week : Term Time Only
We are recruiting for a caring and knowledgeable SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1:2) to join our team in Darwen. You will support students aged 10:19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, Aspergers Syndrome, and similar conditions.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will involve helping students thrive both academically and personally. You will work closely with the class teacher to plan customised lessons and play an active role in managing behaviour and ensuring student well:being.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Assist in the planning and assessment of student activities.
* Track student progress and provide regular feedback.
* Help students stay engaged in learning activities and manage their behaviour.
* Document student development in line with school policies.
* Encourage students social, emotional, and academic growth.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Previous experience working with children with SEN.
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for rota:based transport).
* GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or higher) : required.
* Level 2 or higher qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (preferred).
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
* Positive, flexible attitude with a passion for helping students succeed.
