Supplier Quality Engineer

The Role:
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will actively manage and improve the quality of supplied parts and components, ensuring the seamless continuity of supply to our customers. You’ll play a key role in change management and the qualification of components, working closely with both suppliers and internal teams to drive quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead investigations into supplier non-conformance issues.
2. Support production and customer complaints related to suspect supplied materials.
3. Act as the supplier quality lead in New Product Introduction processes, including APQP, PPAP, and FAIR.
4. Oversee the component qualification process and supplier auditing.
5. Manage non-conforming components (e.g., quarantine, inspection, root cause analysis, and CAPA).
6. Coordinate the introduction of new or modified supplied products into production lines.
7. Drive improvement plans with key suppliers and monitor their performance.
8. Produce and distribute monthly KPIs for Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) and non-conforming materials.
9. Support the overall non-conforming materials process within the site.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Experience:
1. Proven experience in supplier development or quality improvement roles.
2. Expertise in implementing quality planning processes with suppliers.
3. Experience with FAIR/PPAP processes or equivalents.
4. Familiarity with supplier auditing against ISO 9001 standards.
5. Strong skills in problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, A3, CAPA).
6. Ability to set and manage key performance indicators.
Desirable Experience:
1. Familiarity with machined sub-components and optical/electronic components.
2. Experience with lean tools such as standard work and value stream mapping.
3. Communication and collaboration experience across multi-site environments.
Qualifications:
1. Level 5 or higher in Engineering, Quality, or a related STEM subject.
2. ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification (Lead Auditor preferred).
