Asset Risk Modelling is central to how we manage our assets and maintain a safe, reliable, and secure network now and in the future. The Asset Modelling & Investment team are expanding to deliver on our aspirations of developing and updating asset data models for Operational Technology assets; devices used to protect, control, and monitor the network, ensuring it is safe, reliable, and resilient. It also includes associated infrastructure and telecoms network. As an Engineer, you will support the development and regular update of asset risk methodologies that support asset management decisions to ensure adequate understanding of network risk associated with Operational Technology and support the operation and performance of the transmission and distribution system expected by our customers, stakeholders, maximising returns in both the short and long term. You play a vital part in our journey to NetZero through contributing to the delivery of the investment plan for Transmission and Distribution network, currently RIIO-2 and the development of future price controls for RIIO-3 by providing data analysis, modelling, solution development, planning and implementation of engineering strategies, policies and technical specifications. This includes network modernisation, load related investment, system design, maintenance, and the application of innovation. What you’ll be doing Support the development of asset health, condition and criticality information reports based upon internal asset information systems, supporting the development of those in line with the risk methodology development. Review the Asset Inventory in a periodic interval and liaise with relevant asset owners to understand the reason for the asset update or modify as appropriate. Able to understand the Service Management concepts and analyse Incidents/Problems and Change Management aspects on Operational Technology assets. Assist the development and delivery of individual programmes of work, such as asset data improvement initiatives, information systems development, implementation of condition and performance data collection programmes. Work alongside our Operational business areas within the Transmission and Distribution Licences, Process and Technology, Sustainability Team and the wider NP&R business functions. Assist the development of key asset management strategies across our network supporting the delivery of asset modernisation programmes essential to maintaining a safe and reliable network enabling the wider Net Zero ambitions of the regions our network serves. Contribute towards the development and implementation of investment policies, strategies, and system designs in accordance with best practice to ensure effective management of the asset base consistent with legal & licence requirements. Prepare data models to feed into the asset risk methodologies ensuring those maintained and updated as required based on new data and emerging risks, assisting with the development of asset replacements, designs and network policies, strategies and plans in a cost-effective manner. Support the preparation of the asset risk review meetings, ensuring the monitoring of any risk controls implementation agreed at the meeting. Support the completion of engineering justification documents providing data inputs related to asset health and criticality, including asset cyber vulnerabilities. What you’ll bring Ability to approach complex problems methodically and find effective solutions applying innovative thinking. Strong IT literacy in MS Packages. Extensive experience in using data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Excel to create clear and insightful visual presentations of data. Strong skills in presenting data findings clearly and concisely to stakeholders. Ability to think critically about data and its implications. Experience in database management systems such as SAP, Service Now Platform user experience would be an advantage. Experience in programming languages such as Python and SQL for data manipulation, statistical analysis and data visualisations is desirable. Minimum Criteria Degree in relevant engineering discipline or HND with suitable experience Basic knowledge of power system networks.
