About the Role: We are seeking a talented and adaptable Senior Legal Counsel to support our growing renewable energy business in the UK. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the legal framework within one of the fastest-growing sectors of the energy transition. Ideal candidates will have a strong generalist corporate legal background and be ready to specialize in an extremely dynamic market.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including joint ventures, supply agreements, EPC contracts, and project financing documentation.
* Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and advise on UK and international regulations affecting energy projects, including permitting, environmental standards, and renewable energy incentives.
* Transaction Support: Provide legal support for M&A, joint ventures, and partnership structures related to energy development.
* Risk Management: Identify legal risks associated with energy projects and propose strategies to mitigate them.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (commercial, technical, and finance) and external stakeholders (partners, regulators, and legal firms).
* Policy Advocacy: Engage with industry bodies and policymakers to shape the regulatory landscape for renewable energy in the UK.
Requirements:
* Education & Qualifications: Qualified solicitor in the UK with a strong academic record.
* Experience:
* 3+ years of post-qualification experience in a corporate legal role, either in-house or with a leading law firm.
* Experience in energy, infrastructure, or project finance sectors is highly desirable but not mandatory.
* Skills:
* Strong understanding of corporate law, commercial contracts, and compliance frameworks.
* Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work across multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Knowledge:
* Interest in renewable energy, and the energy transition sector.
