We currently have both permanent and secondment opportunities for an experienced midwife to join our existing Maternity Assessment Suite team.

Main duties of the job
You will work collaboratively with the Maternity Assessment Suite midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide efficient and safe care to women and families using the triage service.
Women can access the service from sixteen weeks of gestation up until four weeks following birth. Around 800 women attend each month with various health concerns relating to themselves or their unborn baby.
Maternity Assessment Suite is a fast-paced, acute environment requiring autonomous practice and effective team working. It requires prompt decision-making skills and appropriate and timely escalation when necessary to ensure safe care provision.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Maternity Assessment Suite is a growing service provided for women and families throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.
Duties to include, but not be limited to:
* Assist and support the lead midwife in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities, and the associated systems and processes.
* Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team, and the organisation.
* Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care through appropriate professional practice, delegation, and supervision of duties carried out by less experienced staff.
* Ensure a high standard of Midwifery care is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence-based guidelines.
* Set, monitor, and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
* Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required to ensure seamless care.
* Promote provision of education and health promotion.
* Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting, and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.

Qualifications & Education
* Appropriate NMC Registration
* NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards, following 18 months commencement in post
* Evidence of continuing education or development
* Degree
Knowledge & Experience
* Willing to expand clinical role e.g. IV additives, venepuncture and Cannulation, Perineal suturing
* Awareness of changes within Midwifery practice
* Able to manage/treat obstetric emergencies in hospital/birth unit and community setting
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
* Maintains own reflective practice.
* Demonstrates effective listening skills and communication skills.
* Confident in teaching and assessing student midwives, midwives, and doctors.
* Evidence clinical competence in area of speciality
* Knowledge of Leadership and management
* Knowledge of Research and Development
