We have an excellent and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and suitably experienced Senior Practitioner/Sister/Charge Nurse to join us in our busy Day Surgery Theatres.
We are looking for individuals who are committed to providing a quality, patient focussed service for patients on the Day Surgery Pathway.
As a multi-speciality area you will be supported to develop your surgical skills. There are opportunities for you to access further education and training to enhance your own personal and professional development.
Hours of working rota may be altered, to provide adequate provision for patient care, unless otherwise stated in contract of employment.
The post holder may be asked at the discretion of the Nurse Director to work in any Unit of the Trust, as required.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for individuals who have a broad experience of working within the operating theatre environment.
As a Senior Practitioner you will be required to work alongside the Theatre Team, including Surgical and Anaesthetic Colleagues on a daily basis whilst acting in a supervisory role, managing theatre lists, Staff and Resources accordingly.
You will also need a broad knowledge of surgical specialties and possess the skills to share your experience by acting as a positive role model and coach to the wider team. We encourage practitioners to actively participate in change processes and welcome contributions to Service improvement.

Bev Stokes Day Surgery Unit consists of a dedicated self-contained unit comprising of a patient admission area, 3 Theatres, a dedicated Recovery area and Ward area. We are part of the Anaesthetic and Operating Services care group which manages 58 operating theatres, across the trust plus the theatre admission units and pre-operative assessment clinics as well as post anaesthetic care on all sites. The Day Surgery Unit is focused on providing same day elective surgery for patients on a variety of Surgical Pathways, including General Surgery (Colorectal, Hepatobiliary and Upper Gastro-intestinal), Renal, Urology, Vascular, Musculoskeletal (Hand Surgery, Podiatric Surgery, Spine) and Chronic Pain.
Day surgery is instrumental in meeting the NHS Recovery Plan, offering benefits to patients whilst reducing waiting times, releasing valuable bed stock and has a significant effect on financial implications. We are currently escalating our workload due to us undertaking an increasing amount of High Volume, Low Complexity Surgery.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (General Level 1) with valid NMC Registration.
* Operating Department Practitioner with current HCPC Registration.
* To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
* Completion of Mentor Preparation.
* Achievement of 1st Degree or working towards.
* Management and Leadership Qualification.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year (pro rata for part time staff)
