Job Description
The Lead Construction Manager is ultimately responsible and accountable for multiple areas of the project. They are to lead all MEPH installation works from the front and are empowered to make decisions to ensure the works are completed on time in line with the program of works and to the required budget. They will report directly to the Project Manager.
The Lead Construction Manager is responsible for the following:
* Managing construction managers and subcontractors.
* Procurement of all materials, including verification of all tender quantities prior to order placement.
* Collaborating with the team to ensure all updates, including progress and constraints, are captured.
* Ensuring the health and safety of all operatives affected by our works.
* Maintaining a strong site presence while allocating time for administrative tasks such as record keeping and material procurement.
* Leading by example and ensuring compliance with company standards.
* Communicating clearly and effectively.
Your Responsibilities will include:
* Understanding the project scope of works including the whole MEP package.
* Understanding project specifications and subcontract works packages.
* Completing material take-offs and verifying against tender quantities.
* Ordering materials on a just-in-time basis and arranging deliveries.
* Ensuring quality of installation works and working closely with the quality team.
* Completing progress captures and presenting weekly progress to senior management.
* Contributing to commercial discussions and providing required information.
* Coordinating works with relevant internal and external parties.
* Mentoring and guiding junior construction managers and supervisors.
This role will provide exposure to a wide range of expertise relating to the engineering, project management, and construction sector. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge and skills on a pathway to progressing their career with Jones Engineering and becoming a Chartered Engineer as their knowledge and responsibilities grow and evolve.
Skills and Requirements
* Electrical trade background would be advantageous.
* Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role is essential.
* Experience of managing Electrical projects is a distinct advantage.
* Excellent delegation and organizational skills.
* Ability to lead and mentor a cross-functional team is essential.
* Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
